A diagnosis shouldn’t become a money problem.
A serious illness costs more than health: time off, drives to appointments, a partner taking unpaid leave to sit with you. A lump sum on diagnosis makes stopping affordable.
Sound familiar?
- You’re self-employed, or your sick pay wouldn’t last long.
- Your household relies on two incomes to cover the bills.
- A condition runs in your family, and you’d like a plan in place while it’s still your choice.
One payment, yours to use.
Critical illness insurance pays a lump sum if you’re diagnosed with a covered condition, such as certain cancers, a heart attack or a stroke, and you survive a short waiting period. How you spend it is up to you.
With $4,000 a month in household bills, that’s about a year of breathing room.
Whether or not you can still work. Use it for bills, treatment, travel or time off.

Questions people ask.
What conditions are covered?
It depends on the policy. Most cover the most common serious illnesses, such as life-threatening cancer, heart attack and stroke, and many cover far more. The full list and definitions are in the contract, and I’ll go through them with you.
How is this different from disability insurance?
Disability pays a monthly income if you can’t work. Critical illness pays one lump sum on diagnosis, whether or not you can work. They cover different risks, and many people have both.
Is the payout taxable?
For a policy you own personally and pay for yourself, the benefit is generally not taxable. Your accountant can confirm for your situation.
What if I never get sick?
Then it did its job quietly. Some policies offer an option to get some or all of your premiums back if you never claim. It costs more, and we can compare both.
Can I get it with a family history?
Often, yes. A family history can affect the price or what’s covered, which is why it’s usually easier to apply while you’re healthy.
